How to Apply

The UT Health San Antonio Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program application process is as follows:

Prerequisites (prior to the start date)

  • Successful completion (or anticipated completion) of the PGY-3 or PGY-4 year in an ACGME accredited Psychiatry program
  • Successful completion of/or anticipated completion of STEP 3 (see application requirements below).
  • 12 months of continuous outpatient general psychiatry (12 months FTE; minimum 20% continuous; up to 20% may be CAP )
  • Successful completion of at least 2 Psychiatry Clinical Skills Evaluations (CSVs) evaluated by an ABPN-certified Psychiatrist during general psychiatry training

Applications are accepted July-November and should be submitted using ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). A complete application should include:

  • A complete ERAS application.
  • Curriculum Vita (CV).
  • Personal Statement.
  • Medical School Transcripts.
  • Dean’s letter.
  • For Foreign Medical Graduates: ECFMG Certification certificate. Please note that UT Health San Antonio only sponsors J-1 Visas.
  • USMLE or COMLEX Scores (Including Step III, which must be passed prior to the start date of the Fellowship program).
  • Three original letters of recommendation; one of the letters must be from your current training director; the remaining two should be from current faculty you are working with. All letters of recommendation must address your clinical knowledge and skills.
  • The General (Adult) Program Director’s Attestation Form For Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) Fellowship Eligibility stating all ACGME requirements will be completed in time for transfer to the Fellowship.
  • You must be eligible for institutional licensure in the State of Texas
  • You must also pass a criminal background check.

 

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training Program participates in the MATCH. You must register through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) in order to match into our program.
