Interview Day Events
While the exact dates vary each year, interviews are always held on Wednesdays from October through mid-January . We typically offer 10-12 interviews days and interview 10 candidates per day – 8 DR candidates and 2 IR Integrated candidates.
- Each interview day includes an optional pre-interview dinner with the Chief Residents and other current residents at a local San Antonio restaurant. The pre-interview dinner is optional and does not impact applicants’ ranking.
- On the day of the interview, the Program Director will give a presentation with an overview of the residency program
- Applicants will then be divided into 2 groups – one group will do a tour and the other group will interview with individual faculty members, including the Program Director.
The interview slots are 20 minutes each; all interviews will be completed by 12:00pm, after which lunch will be provided. IR interviews will be held from 1-2 pm. Interviews will be conducted with the program director & the trauma program director.
The Dept. of Radiology does not cover any expenses for applicants. Breakfast and lunch are provided on the day of the interview, with an optional pre-interview dinner the night before. Applicants are responsible for all travel arrangements and expenses.
Applying to Both the DR & IR Integrated
- Applicants may apply to as many programs as they wish in ERAS including applying to both DR and IR Integrated. However, please be aware that being invited to interview for one program (i.e., Diagnostic Radiology) does not guarantee an interview spot for the other residency program.
- If you are offered an interview for both DR and IR Integrated, you can interview for both programs on the same day. The Program Coordinators for both programs work together to ensure that applicants can interview for both programs on the same day.
- Applicants can rank as many programs as they wish. However, if an applicant didn’t interview for a program and wishes to express interest in being ranked for that program, the applicant should email the Program Director and Program Coordinator to express their interest.
International Medical Graduates
We welcome and encourage IMGs to apply; all IMGs must hold ECFMG certification in order to be considered for an interview.
