Surgical Retina and Vitreous Fellowship

Association University of Professors in Ophthalmology Fellowship Compliance Committee (AUPO FCC)

The Surgical Retina and Vitreous Fellowship is a two-year comprehensive, AUPO compliant medical and surgical fellowship. The goal of the fellowship is to provide an advanced level of training in the diagnosis and management of medical and surgical disorders of the retina and vitreous. We will provide well-rounded training in vitreoretinal diseases in a supportive and respectful environment.

The first year will be spent in the clinic and operating room with the retina faculty being exposed to the full range of disease processes in retina surgery and uveitis. In the second year, the fellow will be exposed to more complex retina surgery and assuming greater responsibility in decision making and patient care.

Fellows will gain mastery of all major vitreoretinal diseases and surgical procedures.

Prerequisite requirements of residents (including prior training in a related specialty, if applicable): Successful completion of an ophthalmology residency program in the United States; ability to hold a Texas Medical License.

Oculofacial Fellowship

American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS)

The goal of fellowship training in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery is to complement the basic knowledge gained in the ophthalmology residency program and to provide greater exposure to the diagnosis, management, and surgical correction of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive disorders.

The first year will be spent in the clinic and operating room with the oculoplastics faculty being exposed to the full range of disease processes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. In the second year, the fellow will be exposed to more complex oculofacial plastic surgery and assuming greater responsibility in decision-making and patient care.

The purpose of this fellowship is to advance education, research, and the quality of clinical practice in the fields of aesthetic, plastic, and reconstructive surgery specializing in the face, orbits, eyelids, and lacrimal system or oculofacial plastic surgery in keeping with the purpose of ASOPRS as detailed by the society. Prerequisite requirements of residents (including prior training in a related specialty, if applicable): Successful completion of an ophthalmology residency program in the United States; ability to hold a Texas Medical License.
