All of our faculty members and residents are active in educating medical students in the field of ophthalmology. During the first and second years of medical school, students receive lectures and have practical sessions in eye examination techniques and in the identification and treatment of common and vision-threatening ocular conditions. During their third and fourth years, rotations are available during which they can work with our residents and faculty in the clinical setting.

Our programs are known for superb educational, clinical and surgical training. In addition to residents, our faculty support the training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. We also provide continuing medical education opportunities for practicing physicians via our weekly Grand Rounds and our annual Alamo City Clinical Ophthalmology Conference.

Our Goals

  • Introduce our students to the field of Ophthalmology.
  • Provide opportunities for exposure to clinical Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Research.
  • Assist in the application process for those who pursue Ophthalmology as a career.
