Residency Application

We will be accepting applications through the AAMC computerized ERAS (Electronic Residency Application System) for July 2024 on September 27, 2023. We require USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, or the osteopathic equivalents: COMLEX-1, COMLEX-2. Note that we must receive the scores prior to the Rank Order List Certification Deadline in order to be ranked.  Due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of the Step 2 CS and COMLEX 2-PE for many students, that requirement may be waived for the upcoming 2024 match.   Access can be obtained at  ERAS.

All of the ERAS deadlines will be followed, with the exception that we must receive all applications by November 22, 2023 to be considered and ranked for the Spring 2024 match. International medical graduates seeking a first-year position outside of the match will only be considered post-match. We do not use any minimum USMLE score other than passage of each part within 3 attempts (Texas State Board regulations).

We select residents based upon the complete application. We do not require that an applicant complete a pathology rotation. However, if a rotation has been completed, applicants are encouraged to include a letter of recommendation from a supervising faculty member from that rotation. Applications other than from ERAS (universal forms, etc.) will not be accepted. For more information regarding international medical graduates, please go here.

All applications will be reviewed by the residency committee.

The residency program is fully accredited for 16 positions. Clinical and research fellowships are also offered. Four positions are routinely available each year for residents.
