Academic & Proceduralist Hospitalist
The University of Texas San Antonio, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine seeks an Academic Track Hospitalist with experience or willingness to be trained in conducting procedures as part of our Hospitalist Procedure Team at University Hospital. This position holds the rank of Assistant Professor/Clinical, Associate Professor/Clinical or Professor/Clinical dependent on the applicant’s level of experience.
This position involves clinical work on housestaff and non-housestaff services at University Hospital. All faculty are involved in the education of students and housestaff. Teaching responsibilities will include:
- Education of residents, interns, and students
- Oversight of their delivery of direct patient care
- Review of performance of these learners
You will also take part in other student and resident educational activities beyond working on teaching teams. Some of the activities you can choose to take part in include:
- Serve as a Longitudinal Preceptor for medical students
- Participate in medical student or resident electives, including mentoring 1 on 1 electives
- Participate in student or resident conferences (bootcamp, physical exam rounds, clerkship conferences, sub-intern morning report, resident journal club, resident morning report, resident conferences)
Qualified candidates must have a MD or DO degree, have completed 3 years of an ACGME-certified Internal Medicine residency and be board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). In addition, candidates must be licensed by the Texas Medical Board and maintain certification through the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Moonlighting Physicians
The Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT San Antonio (UTSA) is currently seeking physicians for available moonlighting opportunities. These positions will hold an appointment of Specialist.
These positions involve hourly clinical work on house staff and non-house staff services at University Hospital, as well as participating in medical student education when covering teaching teams. The shifts will consist mostly of nights and weekends.
Qualified candidates must have a MD or DO degree, have completed 3 years of an ACGME-certified Internal Medicine residency and be board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). In addition, must be licensed by the Texas Medical Board and maintain a certification by the Drug Enforcement Administration for credentials with UTSA and University Hospital.
