“I had the privilege of completing a clinical observership at UT San Antonio in May 2026 under the guidance of Dr. Soniya Abraham. The experience greatly strengthened my clinical knowledge and deepened my understanding of patient-centered, evidence-based care. During my time on the Internal Medicine and Transplant Medicine teams, I was exposed to a wide range of clinical cases and participated in thoughtful discussions with Dr. Abraham that enhanced my clinical reasoning and approach to patient management. I also had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Nanjappa and Dr. Voigt on the Transplant Medicine teams, where I gained valuable insight into the complexity of transplant care, the meticulous attention to detail it requires, and the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration. Attending journal club meetings and didactic teaching sessions further enhanced my understanding of clinical medicine. I am sincerely grateful to the entire Hospital Medicine team for their mentorship, support and dedication to teaching. A special thank you to Ms. Wibright for her support and assistance throughout the administrative process. “I had an outstanding three-week rotation in the Department of Hospital Medicine at University of Texas at San Antonio under the guidance of Dr. Badawy. I spent two weeks on the residents team and one week on the cancer services team. Dr. Badawy was an exceptional mentor, always approachable, patient, and genuinely invested in teaching. He consistently made time to answer my questions. His regular, constructive feedback helped me track my progress and identify areas to improve, which made the rotation a continuous learning process. Daily rounds with Dr. Badawy and the resident team were a highlight of the rotation. Each patient’s assessment and plan was discussed with a strong focus on clinical reasoning, management planning and evidence-based practice before the rounds. The residents were also a key part of what made this experience so valuable. They were friendly, supportive, and always willing to help. “I had the incredible opportunity to complete an observership at the UT Health, San Antonio in February 2025 under the guidance of Dr. Ankur Segon. This experience was deeply enriching and left a lasting impact on my journey in medicine. The variety of clinical cases I observed was truly inspiring. Each day presented a new learning opportunity, and I was constantly impressed by how Dr. Segon managed complex cases with clarity, precision, and compassion. His teaching style was both engaging and thoughtful—not only towards me as an observer, but also toward the residents he mentored. Watching him interact with patients was particularly enlightening. He listened intently to every concern, addressed each need promptly, and ensured every patient felt heard and cared for. That level of dedication taught me invaluable lessons about empathy, communication, and patient-centered care.
