Application Information

We welcome International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and support emerging pathways to U.S. practice and certification. Through the Texas DOCTOR Act, qualified IMGs may obtain a provisional Texas medical license without completing a U.S. residency. Additionally, ABIM’s new Pathway E allows eligible IMGs who complete a U.S. fellowship to pursue Internal Medicine board certification. These innovative pathways create exciting opportunities for experienced international physicians to advance their careers in Texas!

• All applicants to the Infectious Diseases fellowship program are required to register with the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and are encouraged to submit their application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) offered by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC).
• Requirements for our fellowship program include a Medical Degree and prior Internal Medicine residency training. We invite applicants from qualified and interested international medical graduates.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents of the U.S., or J-1 Visa holders for fellowship positions at UT Heath San Antonio. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not accept applications from H-1B visa holders.
