COVID Related Questions

Most students in U.S. medical schools have experienced delays or interruptions in their clinical training due to COVID 19. Applications will still be considered even if some core clerkships or sub-internships have not been completed. The program reviews applications holistically and takes into account the applicants’ entire experience in their courses and clerkships.

International Graduates have also been impacted by cancellation of the Step 2 CS examination and limitations in the availability of observerships in the US.  Our program can only consider international applicants who are ECFMG certified. Any of the pathways to certification outlined by the ECFMG are acceptable. The program reviews all applications holistically, taking into consideration prior training and clinical experiences. Clinical rotations or observerships in the US are an important element considered in the application,  as these experiences help prepare applicants  for residency in the United States.

All residency interviews will be conducted virtually. There will be opportunities to interact informally with current residents in the program through a virtual platform. In person visits, “second looks”, visiting rotations, etc., are currently NOT permitted at UT Health San Antonio due to COVID related restrictions.
