Epilepsy Fellowship Program

This is a one-year ACGME-approved fellowship training program in adult epilepsy at the UT Health San Antonio. The program offers broad epilepsy training at one of the largest level-4 NAEC epilepsy centers in Texas (9 epileptologists, 2 epilepsy-trained neurosurgeons, a state-of-the-art 14-bed epilepsy monitoring unit). Rotations are available at the University Hospital, a level-1 trauma center, the South Texas Veterans Administration Hospital, and the Epilepsy Foundation of Central and South Texas.

Clinical epilepsy training is accomplished by an extensive didactic curriculum, exposure to a diverse patient population in several epilepsy clinics, and a broad procedural range (routine and continuous scalp EEG monitoring, phase I and II monitoring including stereo-EEG, advanced structural and functional neuroimaging, and traditional epilepsy surgery, laser ablation, and neurostimulation (RNS, VNS) techniques). Clinical and translational research mentorship and electives are also provided.

Program Requirements: Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology residency program. The program is available as a one -year standalone Epilepsy track, or as the 2nd year of a combined two-year Clinical Neurophysiology-Epilepsy track (see the corresponding Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship requirements).

To apply, please send your CV, personal statement, USMLE transcript, and three (3) letters of recommendation (with one being from the program director of your Neurology residency program) sent directly from the person writing the letter. Electronic versions preferred.
