The UT Health San Antonio Amputation Prevention and Research fellowship is a one-year experience during which the Fellow will work in a multidisciplinary team to enhance their approach to the advanced medical and surgical management of complex diabetic foot complications, including limb- and life-threatening infections, osteomyelitis, lower extremity ischemia, soft tissue loss and ulcerations, foot and ankle Charcot management, and foot and ankle deformity correction.

UT Health San Antonio has produced many leaders in diabetic foot research, academics, and surgical limb salvage and the fellowship is dedicated to continuing to produce academic leaders in podiatric surgery by fostering a scholarly environment.  The Fellow will function as junior faculty, providing monthly lectures as well as teaching podiatric medical students and residents in the clinic, hospital and surgical settings.  The Fellow will also be expected to participate in research and produce posters, presentations and manuscripts for publication.

Good candidates for the UT Health Amputation Prevention and Research Fellowship will have an interest in medical and surgical management of the at-risk diabetic foot, academics, research and the development of leadership skills.
