Dr. Samuel Pabon-Rivera, is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute.  Dr. Pabon completed his undergraduate studies in 2011 at University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, where graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in General Biology and Industrial Microbiology. Before applying to medical school, Dr. Pabon spent one year teaching basic science to high school students at Antilles Military Academy in Puerto Rico. In 2016 he obtained his medical degree from Ponce Health Sciences University. Subsequently, he completed a Pediatric residency at University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences campus obtaining his initial certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2020. Recently, Dr. Pabon completed his fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at UT Health San Antonio and will be joining the faculty during the summer of 2023.  Dr. Pabon’s research interest is focused on genetic risk factors and admixture in Hispanic children from South Texas and Puerto Rico with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
