Overview:
“More at the Bedside”

Dr. Shashi Sahai is a Pediatric Hospitalist at Beaumont Children’s Hospital and Associate Professor at the Pediatrics at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Her main areas of interest are Medical Education especially Resident Education. She has held positions in education leadership as the Associate Program Director for Pediatric Residency at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI and Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit, MI.
She received her medical degree and also completed her pediatric residency at the Pondicherry Medical school in India. Subsequently she went to United Kingdom for Postgraduate training in Pediatrics. After moving to the US, she did her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. It is at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan she found her passion for Residents Education and went on to win multiple Teaching Awards. She developed night curriculum for the Residency program to augment clinical experiences with changes in resident scheduling.  She has authored multiple review articles that are of help to the Pediatric learners.

Dr. Allison Ball is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and a pediatric hospitalist at Beaumont Children’s in metropolitan Detroit. She has taught resident physicians and medical students in academic pediatrics since 2005 when she started her career at Children’s Hospital of Michigan.  Dr. Ball previously held a visiting professorship through Dartmouth University at the University of Rwanda where she helped build the health education infrastructure and the pediatric residency program. Her interests include family-centered care, child advocacy and protection, global health, social pediatrics, and health equity. Early in her career, Dr. Ball was nominated and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, recognizing those who provide compassionate patient care and serve as role models, mentors, and leaders in medicine.
