The Department of Pediatrics at UT Health San Antonio is composed of an amazingly dedicated group of clinicians, educators, and researchers who strive every day to provide the best of care to the children and families of South Texas and to train future generations of general and subspecialty pediatricians. All children, regardless of socioeconomic status, should be society’s highest priority and we are strongly committed to this philosophy.
We are the only comprehensive pediatric program in South Texas that is integrated with an outstanding medical school including the basic sciences, a leading academic University Hospital that comprises all the adult specialties, and a world-class library on site. Renowned dental, nursing, and allied health schools are also co-located on our campus in the South Texas Medical Center.
Despite growing up in New York City, San Antonio is my home after 30 years on the faculty. I have trained one-third of the physician faculty during residency or fellowship, so this is my family. The Pediatric Residency Program is the cornerstone, essential not only to our care of the children and families of South Texas but also the main pipeline for our future faculty and community pediatricians. A state-of-the-art, 300-bed Women’s and Children’s Hospital as part of the University Health System will open in 2022 and is anticipated to be the premier site for the most critically ill mothers and children of the region and beyond.
I invite you to explore our website and learn about the extraordinary impact of our research programs and the comprehensive curricula of our residency and subspecialty fellowship programs. In addition, please feel free to call our Department office at (210) 567-5200 if you have questions or desire more information about our clinical or training programs.
