Wellness is very important to us here at UT Health San Antonio.  We understand that in order to be the best physician you can be to take care of patients, it is important to have balance and understanding on all aspects of your life: personal, professional, financial, etc.  We also understand that wellness goes beyond singular events and days off.  That’s why we have integrated a focus on wellness in several aspects of our residency education.

Wellness Wednesdays

3rd Year Residents enjoying an evening out.

Every block, each residency class will have a protected Wednesday evening as a class after Grand Rounds to spend time as a class, have social events sponsored by the residency program, catch up on appointments, errands, or have family time.

Yearly Directed Conference

During the course of the academic year, each residency class will divide up and have focused year-specific topics with different faculty members.  These topics include: mentorship, time-management, loan-repayment, contracts, CV writing/editing, retirement, insurance.

Dedicated Wellness Days

Quarterly, instead of Grand Rounds, residents and faculty will get together for specific wellness events.  These group events are crucial for camaraderie amongst residents and faculty.  Past events have been paintball, top-golf, yoga, river-tubing, and much more.
