Derrick Sun, M.D., Appointed to the Position of Medical Director, UT Health Physicians, Neurosurgery

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Derrick Sun, M.D., to the position of Medical Director, UT Health Physicians, Neurosurgery.

Dr. Sun received his undergraduate degree with honors from the California Institute of Technology. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed his neurological surgery residency training at the University of Colorado Denver. He also completed an orthopedic surgery fellowship to address complex spinal challenges at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

As medical director, Dr. Sun will oversee daily clinic operation with our practice leadership and provide strategic direction to our outpatient clinics at the UT Health Physicians-Medical Arts and Research Center, the Mays Cancer Center, and (in partnership with University Health System) the UHS-Surgical Specialties Clinic at University Hospital. He will work with staff to develop the patient experience, refine pathways of patient care, and promote quality along all areas of our multivariate mission. He will also coordinate efforts with leaders from our diverse community to foster patient-centered approaches to care.
