Dr. Papanastassiou Presents Focused Ultrasound for Bexar County PA Society

Dr. Papanastassiou presents at the Bexar County PA Society dinner.

Alexander Papanastassiou, MD, recently spoke to the Bexar County Physician Assistant Society about focused ultrasound, a new treatment option for essential tremor and Parkinson’s disease that UT Health will be launching for the first time in San Antonio.

This incisionless outpatient procedure uses sound waves under MRI guidance to precisely target a small spot in the brain considered to be responsible for causing tremors. Patients with essential tremor or Parkinson’s disease who don’t experience tremor relief from medication will now have access to this minimally invasive option.
