Scholarly Activity

During the second and third year of the program, the fellow has the opportunity to pursue original research.  The fellow defines his/her area of research and chooses a research mentor for their project during the first year.  The PD/APD counsels the fellow in selection of the investigative mentor, and ensures appropriate plans are made so the fellow is ready to initiate his/her work at the beginning of the second year.  Work completed during the second two years of fellowship produces sufficient scholarly work as defined by the American Board of Pediatrics to allow for a fellow to complete all fellowship requirements.
