Research Activities
The Division of Nephrology is actively involved in both basic and clinical research. Dr. Arar has his own research laboratory. His research activities focus on developmental biology and the effects of growth factors and extracellular matrix proteins on kidney development and formation. Several multi-center clinical studies are also conducted in collaboration with the North American Pediatric Renal Transplant Cooperative Study (NAPRTCS) and pharmaceutical industry. These studies focus on anemia, hyperphosphatemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism in children with chronic kidney disease.
