Women & Children’s Hospital
University Hospital proudly opened the region’s first stand-alone Women & Children’s Hospital in Fall 2023. This facility offers the most advanced maternal and pediatric care, serving an expansive area of 50,000 square miles! Our Pediatric Residents train in the most acute pediatric hospital in San Antonio, which features 308 beds dedicated to delivering the highest level of care for our region’s smallest infants, critically ill children, and the most complex and socially vulnerable pediatric patients and their families.
As a designated Level I trauma center with a Level IV NICU, Women & Children’s Hospital serves as the primary referral hospital for ALL San Antonio, its surrounding areas, and even Mexico. There truly is no better place to train to be a pediatrician or pediatric subspecialist!
Our Pediatric Residents spend all of their inpatient rotations at Women & Children’s Hospital, located in the South Texas Medical Center. It is a beautiful and colorful hospital with thousands of pieces of artwork throughout the hospital, an expansive cafeteria with a food court, Starbucks, hotel-style call rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, free parking, and lovely outdoor gardens.

Robert B. Green Campus
University Hospital’s Robert B. Green Campus is located in the heart of downtown San Antonio and only a 15-minute drive from the medical center! Residents attend their outpatient ambulatory and continuity clinics on the 6th floor, where they see a variety of acute-care patients and perform routine well-child checks.
With our X+Y scheduling model, residents rotate through their clinics with the same group of 15 residents—5 from each class—throughout the year. This structure fosters early friendships, natural mentorship, and frequent social outings with a group of residents who share the same schedule.
