Steps To Apply

All applicants to the General Psychiatry residency program at UT Health San Antonio should submit the following materials through ERAS (the Electronic Residency Application Service) no later than December 1, for entry the following July 1:
In addition to the ERAS application, the following documents are also required:

  • Dean’s letter
  • Medical school transcript
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae

Applicants should have taken and passed the USMLE Step I and Step II CK exams (or equivalent COMLEX-USA exams) prior to application.

International medical school applicants should also submit an ECFMG certification. Please note that UT Health San Antonio only sponsors J-1 Visas.

After all the above documents have been received through ERAS, applicants who are judged to be competitive will be invited for interview.  Interviews generally are scheduled on Fridays from late October through January.  Each applicant will meet with three or more faculty members and with several residents.

Applicants must be eligible for institutional licensure in the State of Texas. They must also pass a criminal background check.
