Students

MBB students are accepted through the university-wide Integrated Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) Graduate Program and select their dissertation mentors and discipline affiliations during the first year in the program. Advantages of the integrated program include a broad-scope training in biomedical sciences, the ability to interact with the faculty and students in other research fields and eligibility to enroll in a comprehensive selection of courses offered by experts in the respective disciplines. Creation of the IBMS allowed us to recruit highest-quality applicants and strengthened the students’ ability to compete successfully for prestigious training awards. Most of the laboratories in the MBB discipline are small in size, ensuring close interaction of the students with their Ph.D. advisors and the high quality of graduate training. Graduates of the MMB laboratories have been successful in securing postdoctoral positions at the most prestigious institutions in the nation.
