Curriculum

Students must complete all 21 credit hours of required coursework at UT Health San Antonio in the designated time period to earn a certificate; there are no electives. The program is designed to be completed within a year. Students are required to complete an MCAT prep offered by Kaplan and organized by the program. Typical course schedule will include:

  • Summer: MCAT prep
  • Fall: Physiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Neuroanatomy
  • Spring: Histology, Gross Anatomy, Pharmacology, Clinical Seminar

MCAT Prep 

The MCAT prep by Kaplan provides 12 instructor-led core sessions with live and recorded makeups, unlimited access to The MCAT Channel (an online additional resource with 90+ additional live hours of MCAT instruction), a diagnostic exam, science assessments, 15 full-length tests and 10,000+ practice items that are psychometrically validated, fully aligned with the MCAT blueprint, and include SmartReports™ that measure progress and target studying with personalized plans.

The course also includes the most recently available AAMC practice material. Course materials include: MCAT Complete 7-book Subject Review, Lesson Book, High-Yield Science: Solutions & Extra Practice, Quicksheets, and a one-page Getting Started Guidefor students to master expert strategies, learn through realistic practice, and benefit from an in-depth review. Additional benefits include: adaptive QBank (an online question bank of 2,000+ questions for producing custom quizzes that adapt difficulty level to student ability), a mobile MCAT flashcard app (for flashcards, video instruction, and practice on-the-go), and academic support.
