Neurocritical Care Fellowships

CAST Accredited Neurocritical Care Fellowship

CAST certification in neurocritical care is through the Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS). Those who complete the CAST fellowship will receive a certificate through SNS verifying their participation. This training is specifically for the senior neurosurgery residents and it is recognized within the neurosurgical community as beneficial, ancillary training in the field of neurocritical care.

UCNS Accredited Neurocritical Care Fellowship

We are the only neurocritical care fellowship in the South Texas region accredited by the United Council for Neurological Subspecialties. The goal of our fellowship is to train strong intensivists who can care for critically ill patients and comprehend the complexities of neurologic injury and disease. Our program is designed with the understanding that applicants who are interested in neurocritical care often come from a wide range of medical backgrounds, including neurology, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, and internal medicine. We are unique among fellowships in that our program acknowledges this diversity and accommodates it with a highly individualized curriculum. Our neurocritical care fellowship has two open spots each year for a civilian and a military applicant.
