2021-2022 Salaries


PLEASE NOTE: The current salaries for UT Health residents are provided as a reference. Revised salaries for the upcoming program year are typically published in January for July.


  • Health Insurance (UHS)
  • Dental Insurance (UHS)
  • Life Insurance (UHS)
  • Disability Insurance (UHS)
  • Professional Liability Insurance paid by UT Health

Vacation Time

  • Interns receive 15 days of paid vacation per year
  • Residents receive 15 days of paid vacation per year

Professional Memberships as follows

Available reimbursement from stipend funds

Sick Leave

Interns and Residents receive 10 days of paid sick leave per year

Maternity or Paternity Leave

  • Although not a separate leave category, female residents may use a combination of sick leave, vacation time and disability leave for maternity leave
  • A male resident may use a combination of sick leave and annual leave to help care for his new family

Conference Travel Allowance/Medical Book Allowance

$500 per academic year for each resident to attend approved educational conferences and or the purchase of medical books

Meals, Parking, & Uniforms

  • Monthly meal stipend for overnight call rotations at Univ. Hospital and Veteran’s Hospital
  • Meals provided at Noon Conferences
  • Free parking available close to hospitals
  • White lab coats provided free of charge to incoming residents by University Hospital
