The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes is a vibrant division in the Department of Pediatrics, focusing on patient care, teaching and clinical research. Our patients are seen at University Hospital and the Texas Diabetes Institute, components of the University Health System. Our current faculty are board certified in pediatric endocrinology with a variety of research interests including an extensive research program focused on pediatric type 2 diabetes and obesity complications. We see an incredible diversity of complex pediatric endocrine conditions. We are dedicated to training medical students, residents and pediatric endocrine fellows. Our patients come from across South Texas, from Del Rio to Victoria, and from Austin to Brownsville – an area encompassing greater than 1.5 million children.
“The why behind what you do is that spark in you that hurts when they hurt, and rejoices when they get out of the hospital. And if you keep that spark burning in your heart long after you’ve left us, you’re going to be an amazing physician.”
