Reach Out and Read Program

Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a nation-wide program with over 5000 sites.  More than 4 million children from low-income families are reached annually.  Over 6.5 million books are distributed each year.  We distribute almost 2000 books per year in our combined Well Child and Lobby book program. This past year, based on progress reports, UT Kids Children’s Health Center has helped over 1300 children, ages 0 to 5 years, build their home libraries. Since joining Reach Out and Read in 2001, UT Kids Children’s Health Center has prescribed over 44,000 books!

Lizette Gomez, M.D. is our ROR Medical Consultant and champion.  Dianna Hendricks, L.V.N. is our onsite director.
