Division of Inpatient Pediatrics

Welcome

We offer expertise in the care of common pediatric disease as well as coordination of care for complex and medically fragile children who are hospitalized. In addition we are available to provide consultative and co-management services to our sub-specialty colleagues caring for children and procedural sedation services. Division of Inpatient Pediatrics members are not only practicing hospitalists, but are premiere academic physicians researching, publishing and educating at the forefront of the emerging field of pediatric hospital medicine.

Members of the division have ongoing clinical research efforts in the area of pediatric respiratory diseases and obesity and are involved in development of evidence based practice algorithms for children’s health in our community. The division is also actively involved in educational research on innovations in student and resident education. Pediatric division members have been published and reviewed for widely read pediatric journals, including Pediatrics, Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and the Journal of Pediatrics, as well as Hospital Pediatrics and submitted award winning scholarly projects to national organizations. We are actively and formally engaged in leadership roles in the School of Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum as well as in the Pediatric Residency Training Program.

The Division of Inpatient Pediatrics has an exceptional commitment to quality improvement work with our partner hospitals.  A majority of division members are graduates of the UT System Clinical Safety and Effectiveness Program and have helped to expand the quality improvement efforts of the department at large. Division-sponsored projects have won 2 coveted Touchstone Awards for quality from the national CHRISTUS healthcare organization as well as a UT System Patient Safety Committee Grant.
