Wellness/Resident Life

The UT Health San Antonio Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Wellness Program is a resident-led committee devoted to maximizing the physical, professional, psychological and emotional well-being of its residents. Along with faculty leadership, this committee has developed the following wellness intervention techniques below to enrich the residency experience and avoid negative outcomes such as burnout, depression and social isolation:

  • Peer mentorship program
  • Faculty mentorship program
  • Wellness lecture series
  • Monthly social events
  • Regular community service events
  • Professional development education to include “Talk with a Doc” and “Women’s bistro” lunch meetings
  • Alumni networking events
  • Medical student outreach program
