National Stroke Awareness Month 2020 – F.A.S.T.

 

May is National Stroke Awareness Month, so now is the perfect time to review the common warning signs of stroke so that you’ll be able to act F.A.S.T during an emergency.

Face Drooping: Does one side of the face droop or feel numb? Ask the person to smile. Is the smile uneven?

Arm Weakness: Is one arm weak or numb? Ask them to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

Speech Difficulty: Ask them to repeat a simple sentence. Is the person unable to speak or hard to understand?

Time to Call 9-1-1: If someone shows these symptoms, even if they go away, call 911 and get to a hospital immediately. Check the time so you can report when the symptoms first appeared.
