Cadaver Lab

In our most recent cadaver lab, residents learned how to perform a minimally invasive spine fusion technique called an XLIF (Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion) by NuVasive. The residents are using the ORBEYE, a high definition 3D exoscope that aids surgeons in microsurgical technique.

Cadaver Lab

Our residents recently explored various surgical approaches to the third ventricle during a cadaver lab. Dr. John Floyd, chairman, highlighted interhemispheric approaches, including transcallosal, transforaminal, and interfornicial nuances. The residents were able to practice these techniques in our lab with cadavers provided by Stryker.

At the event, Jean-Louis Caron, MD, FRACS, FACS, and Chethan P. Venkatasubba Rao, MD, FNCS, gave a thought-provoking presentation about the management of intracranial pressure in traumatic brain injury.
