Permits and Association Dues

  • Texas Medical Board Physician in Training Permit application fee reimbursement
  • American Academy of Pediatrics Junior Fellowship Membership – including the following publications: Pediatrics, Peds in Review, PREP, Pedialink access, and Red Book

  • San Antonio Pediatric Society Membership fee
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course – PALS certification and renewals

Educational and Developmental Support

  • MedStudy Board Review Curriculum print materials provided year 1
  • Book funds provided years 2 and 3
  • Travel funds and time allotted for scholarly work presentations
  • Formal Board Review Course 2 months before General Pediatrics Board Exam

Vacation and Sick Leave

  • 3 weeks of paid vacation time per year
  • 10 paid days of sick leave per year for injury or illness
  • Sick leave can be carried over through academic years during residency
  • Additional days allotted for scholarly work, fellowship, or job interviews and for personal medical and dental care

Meals, Parking, and Uniforms

  • Monthly meal stipend for extended call at University Hospital
  • Complimentary parking for all residents provided by University Hospital
  • White lab coats provided free of charge to incoming residents by University Hospital

Maternity or Paternity Leave

  • FMLA eligible in PGY 2 and 3 years
  • Program supportive of parental leave choice: Institutional Progressive Parental Leave Policy to protect up to 6 weeks paid leave and flexibility in schedule to accommodate needs for paternal/maternal/or other LOA
